Dave MacKillop is Manager of the Alastair Ross Technology Centre, located just north of the University of Calgary in the University Research Park. The award winning facility (BOMA Canada’s Office Building of the Year, 2006) is home to over 40 high companies and over 70 ‘virtual’ tenants.

Dave has a strong interest in reducing the building’s environmental ‘footprint’. Buildings consume over 35% of the world’s energy.

These initiatives include the first commercial xeriscape retrofit in Alberta, water and energy conservation programs, recycling. The ARTC was one of the first buildings in the city to earn BOMA Go Green environmental certification. Dave is co-founder of the Alberta EcoRoof Initiative, a long range research and demonstration project on green roofs in Alberta’s challenging climate.

Dave’s background includes banking (Royal Trust, Canada Trust), sales (Xerox), and 10 years HR consulting in downtown Calgary.

He takes having fun very seriously. Amongst other things, he is the creator of the infamous Chili Cook-off, Margarita Contest, 3 on 3 Street Hockey Tournament, and Bocce Ball Play-off held annually at the ARTC. He owns the only Smart Car in Alberta that has a gun-rack; won’t beat you off the line, but will take you on the curves.
